November , 2015 | Muttons, Muttons, and more Muttons |

The Mutton bite is the big story. In 19 feet of water on the patches I caught Muttons all morning long. Fish up to 28 inches. Hogfish, Grouper and Mangrove mixed in. The snook have slowed down but you can have a good catch if you work for them. Yesterday we managed to catch a few and a nice catch of reds. Black drum r showing up as the water cools off. There are some Trout out west along with a bunch of Mangroves. I have not been out to the Gulf . It should be going off out there soon with Mackarel and Cobia and Pompan. I will let u know. I an heading out there on Wednesday. The reef continues to produce a good bite of Yellowtail, Kings and Bonito. Great fun.

Florida Keys and Backcountry Fishing Report |
Captain Freddie was born and raised on Martha’s Vineyard Island, located off the coast of Massachusetts.
Being born on a small island in the Atlantic Ocean, Fred began Shell fishing and Hook and Line fishing as soon as he could walk. Fred had a passion for fishing and catching Stripers, Blue Fish, Fluke, Bonito and Albacore Tuna along the shores and beaches of the Vineyard.
As he came into his teen years he began to fancy Offshore Fishing and catching White Marlin, Yellow fin Tuna, Swordfish, Maco and Thresher Sharks.
Fred commercially and recreationaly fished throughout his teen years. At the encouragement of his Dad to get a “Reel Job”, Fred pursued a career working with handicapped youth. This also enabled him to continue fishing. Read more...

At Day's End
With kids entrenched at Camp Cheeca, you are free to take a private, half-day backcountry fishing trip to the Keys and Everglades National Park with Captain Fred Ferreira ($400 for two people, www.captainfreddie.com). Most nights kids get entertained with pizza and a movie, while parents work over seared red snapper and Florida stone crabs at the lodge's Atlantic's Edge restaurant.
